December 2007 - Center Dedicated to Autism Treatment Opens Doors in Virginia

The new Rimland Center for Integrative Medicine kicked off with an open house on November 3 & 4 in Lynchburg, Va. The center’s founder, local pediatrician Dr. Elizabeth Mumper, is known for her extensive research on the biomedical aspects of autism. She named her center in honor of ASA founder and biomedical research pioneer Dr. Bernard Rimland, who died last year. In a speech at the event, ASA president Lee Grossman reaffirmed the value of the center. “Autism is treatable. It’s not hopeless,” he said. The center houses Mumper’s practice, Advocates for Children, which specializes in pediatric care for children with autism spectrum disorders. Visit the center online at http://www.rimlandcenter.com/.
